    On July 20, 2020, Dr. Patrick O’Toole assumed the role of Acting Superintendent at North Allegheny School District while the District conducts its search for a new Superintendent of Schools.

     

    Biography

    Following a career in public education that spanned 39 years, Dr. Patrick T. O’Toole, retired as superintendent of the Upper St. Clair School District on June 30, 2018.

    和记app官网Serving as Upper St. Clair’s superintendent of schools from 2007 to 2018, Dr. O’Toole focused the district’s vision for these initiatives on a new tagline: “Customizing Learning, Nurturing Potential and Delivering Excellence.” Upper St. Clair School District garnered national praise for several innovative programs initiated under his leadership.

    Personally, Dr. O’Toole earned numerous honors for his leadership and contributions to the field of education. The Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators honored him with the 2010 Service to the Professional Award and named him the 2012 Pennsylvania Superintendent of the Year. Also in 2012, he received the Distinguished Educator Award from the Tri-State Area School Study Council.

    In addition to his duties as superintendent, Dr. O’Toole has provided leadership to the greater education profession. He served as president of the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators during 2016-17; and president of Tri-State Area School Study Council from 2013 through 2015.

    和记app官网Prior to Upper St. Clair, Dr. O’Toole served as superintendent in the South Butler County and Shenango Area school districts. In addition, he has served as a high school principal, associate high school principal and elementary teacher.

    A graduate of Clarion University, Dr. O’Toole holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. He earned a master’s degree in educational administration (1988) and a doctorate in administration and policy studies (1996) from the University of Pittsburgh. In 2013, Clarion University invited him to deliver its spring commencement address and in 2016 honored him with its Distinguished Alumni Award.

    Dr. O’Toole resides in Cranberry Township with his wife, Tracey, a chemistry teacher in the Seneca Valley School District, and their son, Patrick. In, 2018, he founded an educational leadership consulting service (SchoolAssist Consulting) so that he may continue to assist school leaders and leadership teams.
